title=A devastated Village... In need of urgent Help

The greatest tragedy on earth is losing identity...to disappear without trace.
This worst has come to us... being ripped off of everything we had and known...
This misery is upon not a single person, but on an entire village;

Home for more than thousand people, nearly 400 Families with number of Kids.
This is the state of our village,Erayumanthurai in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu.
A tranquil village, surrounded by Sea and river.. our breathtakingly beautiful home.

We live by Fishing...Yes, for this long, sea is our only provider of food and shelter
We call her "Kadal Amma" so affectionately.

Now we stand away from her, fearful of her, full of sorrow...
Devastated, disintegrated, displaced, demolished by the reccuring Sea erosion.

So ironic that we had to to provide to our provider all that she has given us...and how...
So unfortunate that we remain hopeless with no protectors or angels to stand guard.
So unimportant since we do not have mass votes to turn the heads of government and politicians towards us.
So confusing that we stand casted away with no known alternate ways of surivial .
So stunned we stand, not knowing what to do... or where to go...

Who can blame us? whom can we blame? We are but, poor faithful fishermen...

The real question and it is the question of 400 families and 1000 People,
Can't Government help our poor, helpless families?
Why the idea of preventing or precaution is so foreign
to our elected politicians and educated administrators?
Why do they always visit the destroyed village and promise
that they will look into this issue when they could have done something to prevent this?
Will they beleive us only when they see our ruined village?
How long will we have to wait and hope that government will hear our cries?
And actually do something...

Most of us have seen a tamil movie called "Citizen" but laughed at the movie's concept
Saying it is far fetched and it can't be true that one whole village is swept away by the sea
And no one helps them..But it seems this is happening, in front of our eyes, in our village.

It is heartbreaking to see this beautiful land being demolished
piece by piece in front of our eyes.
We may no longer live there, or chose to move out from this village,
but what will we call "home" from now on?
How will we be able to forget each and every corner of our home,
and the beautiful childhood memories we savor in our heart for all these years...
As this beautiful village buries under the sea,
it will be only a distant memory in our mind and deeply buried in our heart forever.

We, the fellow villagers, will surely ask ourselves at some point, did we do enough?
If not now I am sure we will be haunted by this question
from deep within oursleves for long if not by others.
Are we prepared to answer that question now within our limits
or just be satisfied with being empathetic
to those wrecked families still living with hope filled souls?
